The Department of Education and Skills has approved application made by CMETB and Castleblayney College to provide additional classrooms to support students with autism at the school.
The announcement by Minister for Education, Norma Foley was made this afternoon and officially confirmed the school’s application under the Additional Accommodation Scheme had been successful.
The project will see two new special education classrooms built at the school. The announcement was welcomed by John Kearney, Chief Executive of CMETB: “As an ETB we are committed to supporting an active, positive and inclusive learning environment for all our students. The announcement is a wonderful endorsement of the efforts of all the staff in Castleblayney College in delivering an all inclusive school that empowers every student to develop their skills, knowledge and attitudes, in an enriching and exciting learning environment.”
Planning for the extension at the school will now be progressed by CMETB by appointing a design team for the project.
